Bought Silver bream from Ocean Luxe Seafoods today. Unfortunately, out of the 3, one fish was 'sick' did not have any flesh in it. You can see in the photo the difference. Very disappointing. I have bought a lot of fish from them. This is the 2nd time I have been given bad fish. I am going back to my previous fishmonger who has never ever given us rotten fish.
Bought half a kilo of supposedly “fresh from the market” king prawns yesterday. Went to peel them and found them to be slimy, manky, some were green/grey inside - very unpleasant smell. Couldn’t risk eating them. Returned them the following day - received a brisk apology and refund (the refund is basic under Australian Consumer Law) and I was hurried off. I rarely leave reviews, but my experience at Ocean Luxe Seafood was so unpleasant that I feel obligated to warn others. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt tense and unwelcoming. Staff looked stressed and uncomfortable, and it was hard not to notice the way management, especially Alex (the boss), spoke down to them. This seafood stinks and is old. I bought fish and prawns for a premium price 24hrs ago. The prawns are definitely sour- I went to cook them tonight but realised the pungent odour in my fridge was the ‘fresh’ prawns. I was rushing when purchasing but retrospectively the colour and look of the seafood was dull and did not look fresh at all. Would not purchase from here again.
After waiting some 15-20 minutes to be served. A tall young blonde woman a melenial or gen z, in a fluro blue fitness outfit, turned up and started to be served before me. This pissed me right off as I had been waiting in clear view. For some 10 minutes before this young woman turned up, and at 59 I was not wearing some Harry Potter invisibility cloak.
