The owners were so friendly and welcoming. The fish and chips were delicious. Fresh and yummy. The calamari stole the show though. Clearly fresh, it was soft and sweet. 11/10 would recommend
Having NZ Hoki battered fish & chips. Coming here from Canada, we tend to have halibut, haddock or cod. Hoki tastes great to me.
This little takeaway is a taste of yesterday, with generous servings and friendly service. We attended in Winter and the place was still buzzing. We got the generous seafood basket which was cooked wonderfully. We got a hot drink something wasn't right maybe it was the choice of having chai latte with fish and chips. If you eat in or takeaway it's worth having a look.
I’ve been a visitor to Shells Diner for years - a long overdue review (sorry it took so long). Shells Diner is good - consistently good. I travelled down today from Sydney just for lunch. I ordered the salt and pepper squid with chips. The batter was excellent, the squid tender, the portion size generous, the price excellent. Awesome quality chips - perfect to take across to the beach for lunch. I made a mistake when ordering and forgot to add sauce so the owner gave me one for free. Will definitely be coming back as that type of service should be celebrated!
